At the February 1 Unsung Heroes Luncheon sponsored by Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, Last Stand honored Sheila Rowen as our Unsung Hero, in recognition of her outstanding community activism and her dedication to watch-dogging city government in Key West.

Sheila landed in Key West on a boat in 1991 with Bill and three children. Since then her long volunteer resume defies description. She has become every Commissioner’s friend and at times dreaded nightmare. They know whatever they do will have to pass under her watchful eye. She attends more public meetings than one can count.  She reads tons of back-up information for every agenda and always uses a reasoned approach with a dash of humor in solving problems. Sheila is the quintessential "good citizen." Last Stand is very proud to nominate Sheila this year for our Unsung Hero award.
