Last Stand, the "Protect
the Keys" organization, has recently elected Dennis Henize as
Vice-President.
Dennis
came to Key West in 1975, early in his career with the National
Weather Service. He left in the mid '80s to spend two years at
the National Hurricane Center, then returned to Key West as
Meteorologist-in-Charge of the Key West NWS office in '87.
When the local weather office was slated for closure in the '90s,
Dennis opted for early retirement in '95. With his wife
Tina, also an environmental activist and enthusiast, he lives in
the wilds of Cudjoe Key, where they helped lead the opposition in
the late '90s to missile launching from Cudjoe Key.
He's been a director of Last Stand
a little over a year, and maintains
Last Stand's website.

We are also pleased to announce the addition of Richard Hatch
to the Last Stand Board of
Directors.
Richard is a well known restaurateur in Key West, being the
owner of Ricky's Blue
Heaven (named for his son) from the start.
Richard has been a permanent resident of Key west for 17 years.
Before starting "Blue Heaven" he was a reporter for 3 years for
The Key West Citizen, covering meetings and events in Key West,
including environmental issues, one of his main interests in the
Keys. Richard also enjoys getting out on the water whenever
he can.
Richard's wealth of Key West experience will be a huge asset to
the Last Stand Board.
