Monroe County tests 17
beaches weekly for enterococcus and fecal coliform, two kinds of
intestinal bacteria that indicate fecal pollution. Poor levels (105
enterococci and 400 fecal coliform organisms per 100 milliliters) prompt
an advisory. Moderate levels (36-104 of the former and 200-399 of the
latter) do not. Results for this year are:
