Tell the
governor the poles must go
EDITOR:
For
whatever it is worth, I cannot agree with County Commissioner George
Neugent more with his response regarding those ghastly poles that the
state Department of Transportation is shoving down our throats with
absolutely no consideration for the beauty that residents and visitors
hold dear. The tone of his letter to the editor represents my feelings
on the matter and I don't feel he should apologize.
I believe that it is time for everyone to read
for the first time "1984". To insinuate the camera poles are for traffic
problems is totally absurd. Where else do we have to go when there is a
tie-up? A sign on the side of the road directing travelers to a radio
traffic station would suffice to allow one to make a decision on
options. Those choices are very limited and consist of waiting, or
turning around.
I hope that a letter-writing campaign to the
governor would put a stop to any work in progress since DOT has totally
ignored us. It breaks my heart to see these things traveling down the
highway and some of them being erected already. It irritates me to no
end that my tax dollars are being spent by a department that fails time
and again to listen to those that pay their bills.
