From the Credit Where Credit is Due Department...

Last Stand folks, and those who attended, know that the May 14 Public Info Forum on near-shore water quality was conceived by and put on by Last Stand, but those who only read about it in the May 17 Keynoter article about the event may not have known that.   The record was set straight in the following letter in the May 24 Keynoter:

To the Editor:

Your otherwise good article (May 17 Keynoter) reporting on Last Stand's public information forum "Water Quality - What the Experts Say" on May 14 failed to mention that it was a Last Stand program.  We welcome the opportunity to correct the oversight.

Last Stand, the Keys' grassroots environmental and quality-of-life organization, regularly puts on public educational programs on a variety of important Keys issues, in addition to our other activities.

It's worth noting that last Wednesday's Last Stand forum on water quality had the highest attendance of any one-time program held in NOAA's Eco-Discovery Center since its opening, according to the Center's management.

Last Stand thanks those who participated on the panel, the volunteers and donors who helped with the refreshments, and all those who attended.
